"This year marks the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Brazil and Lithuania, and the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of the diplomatic relations. This is a good opportunity for us to intensify even more the development of bilateral political and economic ties as well as people-to-people relations. We need to expand the existing legal framework for bilateral cooperation and to make better use of the existing potential in various fields," said Lithuania's Foreign Minister.
Linkevičius noted that the possibility to export Lithuanian fish products to Brazil that had opened the previous year was mutually beneficial. "We seek to have all the necessary procedures also for Lithuania's exports of dairy products completed as soon as possible," said Lithuania's Foreign Minister.
The participants of the meeting also discussed international security issues.
Linkevičius invited Brazilian representatives to participate in the largest science forum in the Baltic countries "Life Science Baltics", which is to be held in September in Vilnius.
Lithuania's Foreign Minister also invited his Brazilian counterpart to visit Lithuania. "This would give a fresh impetus to the development of the mutually beneficial partnership between our countries," said Linkevičius.
