Dalia Grybauskaitė and the President of Ukraine discussed the security situation in the region, the fight against hostile propaganda, the worsening of the situation in Eastern Ukraine, and the obstacles impeding the successful implementation of the Minsk agreements. The Lithuanian President emphasized that Russia and Russian-controlled separatists failed to implement the essential aspects of the agreements, such as ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy military equipment, exchange of hostages, and unrestricted work by the OSCE observer mission in the region.
Views were also exchanged on the implementation of European reforms in Ukraine. Dalia Grybauskaitė stressed that the rule of law, fighting corruption and improving business environment were essential conditions which would not only ensure a successful euro-integration process but would also promote the welfare of the Ukrainian people.
The Lithuanian President and Georgia's new Prime Minister discussed issues concerning a visa-free regime and the political situation in Georgia. According to Dalia Grybauskaitė, it is very important to ensure constructive political dialogue with the opposition, a pluralism of opinion as well as effective and independent activities of the judicial system in order to achieve progress in the state.
During her meetings with the heads of the Eastern Partnership countries, the President also underlined that Lithuania strongly supported the aspiration of these countries to build a European future and was ready to help them by sharing its euro-integration experience.
