The meeting heard the opinions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Central Electoral Commission. Besides, a working group was set up by the Committee for the follow-up consideration of the proposal. In the initial stage, the political groups of the Seimas should deliver their opinions on the proposal and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should regularly update the Committee on the progress of the discussions in EU bodies.
In addition, the Seimas Committee on Legal Affairs and the Committee on State Administration and Local Authorities will be requested to consider the EP proposal as very relevant and to present conclusions on the compliance of the proposal with the principle of subsidiarity.
