The President underlined that Lithuania and the Netherlands were bound by long years of close cooperation and that the people of the two countries were connected by strong feelings of goodwill and friendship, deepened and intensified ever further by the cordial visit of Queen Beatrix to Lithuania five years ago.
"I am therefore very pleased about our accomplishments of the past decades based on bilateral contacts in developing political, business and other relations, building a common future in the European Union and closely cooperating within NATO. We are not only partners, but also allies, and I have no doubt that we will continue working together to promote dialogue on issues of major importance for our countries, their people and for Europe," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
