Lithuania's Prime Minister thanked for those who contributed to the construction of this centre and highlighted that, while implementing the state sports development strategy, the Government was pledged to develop and the promote the wellness service. According to Butkevicius, this centre for sports medicine was to contribute to that.
'The old centre for sports medicine has not been adapted to provide health care services for the athletes. And not only because of the lack of the consulting-rooms. It did not meet the hygiene requirements as well. As a result, it is obvious that the decision to sell the old building and to build the new one gave excellent results.
The new centre for the sports medicine demonstrated the attitude of the Government, the Physical Culture and the Sports Department – we need to strive for the best possible conditions for our talents," said the Prime Minister.
