In the second group stage Lithuania had 100 per cent of success. They won three games out of three and showed much better performance than in the first stage.
One thing that Lithuania should bear in mind is that Italy never won against Lithuania. The two nations met six times in official matches and Lithuania was always the one that celebrated the victory in the end. The first meeting between the nations was before 1937 and the score for the Lithuanians then was 41 – 27 at the final round of the European Basketball Championship for men.
