France missed a chance to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2013 European basketball championship on Wednesday as they lost to Lithuania while Serbia took over sole possession of first place in the second round group stage.

Even though the road to Slovenia's capital Ljubljana was not an easy one, Lithuania managed to assertively conquer a strong opponent – France – and finished the game with the confident score of 76:62 (16:10, 16:17, 19:15, 25:20), and for the first time demonstrated their true fighting spirit. The victory in the match brought the Lithuanian team two qualifying points

They face Belgium tomorrow , a team they have beaten twice already in friendly matches. The Belgians gave the tough Serbians a fight but in the end , Serbia held out for the win. In the newly formed group E of the second round, the teams that formerly made up Group B (Lithuania's group in the first round)have all won. Perhaps Arvydas Sabonis's comments about Group B being " hell" were quite true. France, Belgium and the Ukraine all seem to think so . Ukraine especially after reeling from a massive 30-point beating from the Latvians today . They probably agree with Arvydas Sabonis most of all.
