Led by rising stars Nemanja Nedovic and Nenad Krstic, Serbia got even with Lithuania, a team that had fought them to a standstill on more than one occasion and with mixed results. Both  teams have had wins and losses against each other as an opponent.

In this most recent clash between the two Eastern-European titans, Serbia started out the game breaking out to an early lead as Lithuania struggled to score. The young NBA player for  Golden State, Nemanja Nedovic led the charge with some early buckets and team Lithuania soon found themselves in a hole. Both teams played well in the exhibition games leading up to the EuroBasket. Lithuania went 11-1 while Serbia was 7-3. They lost to Slovenia, Russia and Georgia – all excellent teams. Both team Lithuania and team Serbia are from very proud basketball nations and have supplied the NBA with great players over the years from Vlade Divac to Arvydas Sabonis. While this victory should give Serbia some confidence, this tournament has only just begun. Lithuania merely has to be in the top four of six teams in Group B to advance to the quarterfinals round. This they will almost certainly do, unless this loss is the beginning of a total implosion. That is doubtful however. One of the undying characteristics of team Lithuania is the unbelievable ability to fight back after they've been knocked down. It is how well a team picks themselves up and carries on. I wouldn't count Lithuania out just yet.
