More gold for Lithuanians at the universiade

This Monday in Kazan, Russia, Lithuanian sportsmen participated in the canoe and kayak tournament. Lithuanians Jevgenijus Šuklinas and Ignas Navakauskas both won gold medals. Now Lithuania has six gold medals in total.

Jevgenijus Šuklinas competed in a canoe single 200 meters tournament. He was rather at the end for most of the race; however, he managed to outrun sportsmen from Russia and Belarus who won second and third places respectively. The sportsman finished the race in 38,95 seconds. He will also participate in 500 metres tournament in the Monday afternoon.

Ignas Navakauskas who competed in a kayak single 200 metres competition also won gold medal. He won against other eight participants and finished in 34,311 seconds. Italian Manfredi Rizza won the second place while Russian Oleg Charitonov won bronze medal.

Lithuanians already have six gold medals and nine medals in total. The univesiade will last until 17th of July.
