This year, the winners of the annual Vilnius University (VU) Foundation competition held to attract young researchers are Dr. Ilona Jurkonytė and doctoral student Marija Norkūnaitė, candidates nominated by the VU Institute of International Relations and Political Science and Dr. Šarūnas Šavėla, nominated by the VU Faculty of Philology.

Today, the seminar of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) has started at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) to discuss science and sports diplomacy and other relevant topics. The seminar is attended by representatives of AUF units, ambassadors of France, Canada, Armenia, Georgia and Romania. The event will last two days.

On September 4th launched VILNIUS TECH Digital Badge System, designed to help students in participating university activities and improving their competencies. The main goal of this system is to award students with badges for their involvement in events, training sessions, conferences, event organization, volunteering, and other exceptional achievements. Later on, they receive certificates that prove their experience.

Research ethics and academic ethics are by far not the only questions related to the research integrity topic. Various aspects of Research Integrity, including Research Culture, Mental Health, Mentoring and responsible publication of research, will be discussed on the 3rd of October in the event organized by Vilnius University, „Shaping a Culture of Research Integrity“. Invited speakers from different universities are facing various aspects of Research Integrity in their daily work and are willing to share their experience and advice.

Applied chemistry studies, conducting research and attending conferences, involvement in Students’ Union projects and website development – these are just some of the daily activities of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) GIFTed student Aistis Melnikas. While active since childhood, Aistis admits that balancing so many things is a challenge, but his formula for success is quite simple – proper time management helps to accomplish more.

The festival took place on September 4th, Monday, at Vilnius Gedimino Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) "LinkMenų fabrikas." Here, a large group of future creators gathered: newly joined and existing students as well as the entire VILNIUS TECH community. Festival guests enjoyed various activities: there was a demonstration by the VILNIUS TECH Tourist Club, "Vilnius Sveikiau" intellectual game, body art, and a photobooth. Food, drinks and relaxation zones were also available.

On the 4th of September, the 24th President of the CERN Council Prof. Eliezer Rabinovici will visit Vilnius University (VU). The physicist will meet with the Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas and the Pro-Rector for Research Prof. Edita Sužiedėliene, visit the VU Library, and give a public lecture at the Faculty of Physics.

“Gaining new experience by studying abroad has been one of the biggest dreams of my life and Lithuania was the country I had always wanted to visit, so I was overjoyed to find the chance to study here. The country has beautiful nature and an interesting history, which attracted me a lot. That's why I tried my best to secure a spot at the Vilnius University summer programme,” says Valeriia Hladkova. She is a first-year Master student in International Economics at the National University of Food Technologies in Ukraine, which is located in Kyiv. This summer she resides in Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty based on the summer student scientific practice project organised by the Research Council of Lithuania, with the support of Assoc. Prof. Ilona Kiaušienė.

On 30th August, the introductory week for international students from abroad coming to study under Erasmus and other exchange programmes has started at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU).

A cooperation agreement has been signed between MRU and the Ukrainian branch of the European Association of Mediation Judges (GEMME): the Rector, Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė, and the Executive Director of GEMME Ukraine, Alina Sierhieva, have confirmed the already implemented social partnership in the areas of development of mediation and the qualification and training of Ukrainian judges, notaries, attorneys at law, and other lawyers in the field of alternative dispute resolution.
