Rector Prof. Artūras Žukauskas welcomes the high level visit and emphasizes the importance of cooperation with one of the country members of the Eastern Partnership. "Georgia is a rapidly progressing country. One of the VU strategic objectives is a threefold increase in the number of foreign students. I would hope that over the next few years the numbers of Georgian students at VU will increase threefold as well, "- says the professor.
VU cooperates closely with universities of Georgia in the field of studies. During the autumn semester of 2015/2016 school year, Mariam Manjgaladzė, the professor of Tbilisi State University teaches the Georgian language at the Foreign Languages Institute of Vilnius University.
Jaba Tebidzė, the student of International and European Law at VU claims that he opted for VU due to warm bilateral relations of the two countries and for a good reputation of the university.
Bilateral cooperation agreements so far have been signed with Tbilisi and Ilia State Universities. In 2015, 10 VU students visited Tbilisi University while 11 came to VU in exchange. 16 Georgian students came for the ongoing studies to VU in 2015 and in total there are 33 Georgian citizens studying at VU. Participation of both countries in the EU International mobility projects enables the exchange of academic staff.
