NTU rating is the evaluation of the achievements of the researchers, i.e. the quality of the scientific publications, the quantity as well as their impact. NTU evaluates the publications over the past 11 years and during the current year, as well as their citation rates. The goal of the rankings is to identify the world's leading universities in different subject areas.
Selected from more than 4,000 institutions of higher education around the world, in accordance with ESI (Essential Scientific Indexing) data, NTU ranked the best 700 universities on top list as well as on list by field and subject criterion. The 14 subjects covered various scientific areas, starting from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to Pharmacology.
Not only had this rating recognized the achievements of VGTU by the subject of Civil Engineering. According to the international 2015-2016 QS World University Rankings, VGTU takes place from 101st to 150th for Civil and Structural Engineering from 486 evaluated institutions of higher education.
It is natural to have good results in the rankings. Civil Engineering Science Centre (CESC) at VGTU is the most modern Research Laboratory, not only in the Baltic States, but also all over Eastern and Central Europe. The most influential organisation of science in construction engineering in the world - American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), presented Prof. Habil. Dr. Gintaris Kaklauskas and Dr. Viktor Gribniak the Moisseiff Award, the award for the best article published in the scientific journals of the ASCE, in 2013.
VGTU Civil Engineering covers a wide range of areas, starting from digital design of buildings and urban infrastructure systems, unique design solutions, new materials and technologies to alternative energy solutions for buildings.
High academic achievements would not be possible without strong ties with the industry of our country, the Lithuanian Builders Association and its major companies, with which VGTU is developing close cooperation on the issues of research and technological development.
