The heads of both universities used the opportunity to discuss different urgent issues, such as the VU management structure, ongoing research directions. Professor A. Žukauskas shared his insights about the Lithuanian educational system, research funding related issues, discussed the VU Strategy developing process.
"One of our strategic priorities is to keep pace with the leading universities of Europe and to join the team of top universities, such as Lund University. Otherwise, the future of the Lithuanian system of higher education may become rather sensitive", – prof. Artūras Žukauskas, VU Rector commented on the VU goals.
VU has a longstanding tradition of cooperation with Lund University. The students of different levels go to this university to enhance their knowledge. Numerous international research projects are carried on in partnership with Lund University.
Lund University being the highest ranked university in Sweden in the QS Ranking 2015/2016, holds the 70th position in the QS Ranking 2015/2016. Lund University is created in 1966 and currently has about 42 thousand students.
