On that day students of schools of national minorities, including Polish ones, did not take part in the lessons. It was an expression of protest against the actions of the authorities imposed at educational institutions teaching in the Polish, Russian and other minorities' languages.

4 out of 5 Polish schools in the Trakai district took part in the strike. In Vilnius - 7 out of 9. The most active schools were Vilnius Vladislavo Sirokomlės Secondary School and Vilnius Joachimo Lelevelio Secondary School. When speaking about Russian schools in Vilnius, the students of Vilnius Levo Karsavino Secondary School took part in the strike.
The Holy Mass at the open window of the Chapel of the Gate of Dawn in Vilnius was celebrated yesterday. It was intentioned at the protection and development of the Polish education in the Vilnius Region. The Mass was attended by about 2000 people.
The Poles fighting for the Polish education were supported by the authorities of Poland. Vice Marshal of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchciński also attended the Mass. Moreover, the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Poland is currently preparing the letter to the Minister of Education and Science of Lithuania regarding the protection of Polish schools in Lithuania.
To add, the Sejm of Poland is preparing the resolution on Polish schools in Lithuania. This legislative step is precedent in the history of Parliament in independent Poland.
