"This year is distinctive in that the number of EHU bachelor's degree students who decided to stay and continue on in a master's program grew dramatically. The primary reasons for this are a high level of student loyalty, a desire to continue projects begun at the university, and an effective EHU alumni network," explained prof. David Pollick, the EHU rector.
New programs are planned for 2015, as well. A bachelor's degree program in World Politics and Economics has been developed between EHU and Vytautas Magnus University. It is the only joint bachelor's degree program in Lithuania.
"We're seeing an interesting trend, in that more students got accepted to EHU through the general intake organized by the Lithuanian Higher Education General Acceptance Organizing Association (LAMA BPO). Seven students in Lithuania have been accepted to various EHU programs," noted EHU Head of Student Recruitment Maksim Milta.
Considering the needs and differing degrees of preparation of Belarusian high school graduates, this year EHU is also launching a year-long preparatory course for students in Vilnius and Minsk.
"Until now, the university has provided consultation at the Propilei Center in Minsk for students preparing for exams, but beginning this year we are offering a detailed preparatory course for university studies. Students can attend both in Vilnius and Minsk. The students spend an entire year in Vilnius, improving their English, preparing for their exams, experiencing university life, and participating in its activities. The program will provide for a better and more successful integration into the EHU environment," explained Milta.
The new academic year at EHU begins on October 1, 2015.
