Thanks to the active actions of councilors from the EAPL faction, a victory has been achieved in the battle for the Vilnius J. Lelevelio Secondary School – the council canceled its resolution approved one month ago, which stated the prohibition of completing 11-12 grades at the school. In addition, the council postponed by one year the entry into force of the document on the future of schools, which means that in the coming academic year the school will be able to complete 11-12 grades and will be able to maintain the status quo for a year. Year – exactly such a period of time the school has to conduct educational process on the existing conditions and in its historical building according to the resolution adopted today.

Life goes fast, and the Polish community is very determined to win, therefore a lot can change in 12 months.

Another success of the national minorities schools' communities and the EAPL faction is the fact that they managed to postpone the entry into force of council resolutions, according to which 8 minority schools of the Vilnius City (3 Polish and 5 Russian) would receive a prohibition of completing 11-12 grades in the coming academic year. Another session of the Vilnius City Council will take place at the end of August.

National minorities, including Poles, have more than a month to change the situation, which ultimately could turn to their advantage. It is not easy to win when the forces are uneven, but there were situations in history where the spirit of the nation turned out to be stronger than the enemy resources. Poles believe that they will win the battle for their schools - a condition of their survival in Lithuania.
