Each year the Parliament gives out the award to help promote films that go to the heart of the public debate in Europe. This year marks already the 8th edition of the Lux Prize.
The three directors competing for this year's prize are Céline Sciamma (France), Paweł Pawlikowski (Poland) and Rok Biček (Slovenia). Their films, despite being diverse in styles and tackling different issues, share young people as a subject.
The short-listed films have all been subtitled into the EU's official 24 languages and screened in all 28 member states during the Lux Film Days this autumn. The winning film, picked by MEPs, will be adapted for the visually and hearing impaired and also be promoted during its international release.
The public can still vote for their favourite film on the Lux prize website. One lucky winner will be invited to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in June/July 2015.
