Dr. Juozas Vaitkus, the Head of the Lithuanian delegation and the President of the Lithuanian Physical Society expressed his strong belief that „The above mentioned election proved that despite Lithuania is a small country in its size it's representatives are regarded as significant and distinguished researchers when addressing global issues. It's not recognition of dr. G. Tautvaišienė exceptionally, but great respect also to Lithuania and Vilnius University".
The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) was established in1922 in Brussels with 13 Member countries and the first General Assembly was held in 1923 in Paris. At present 60 members adhere to IUPAP.
