The aim of the agreement is to develop cooperation in the area of education and research in literature, languages, art, humanities, and social sciences. The institutions also agreed to organise student and staff exchanges.
With the start of the three-month Lithuanian season in France this autumn, the agreement aims to consolidate and expand the mutual partnership.
On 12–13 September, the Lithuanian cultural season in France will be opened with a conference ‘Lithuania-France: a Distant Neighbourhood, a Shared Experience’ held in Paris. The conference will take place at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the Sorbonne University in Paris, focusing on the phenomena that are significant to and recognisable by both countries.
The conference programme is designed and coordinated, and the speakers and panellists are proposed by both universities. Thus, all ideas will be discussed from a dual perspective, addressing topics of importance to Lithuania and France as the creating forces of European values: the Enlightenment, modern culture and the role of the imagination therein, and historical memory.
