This year, everyone who likes lotteries and the taste of victory will be able to take part in the online lottery organized by the University, where it will be possible to win 30 unique prizes, such as a day of bird watching with ornithologist Marius Čepulis, books by VU scientists with their autographs, a rhododendron seedling, a night excursion in Molėtai at the observatory, subscriptions to tennis courts and other sports activities, a photoshoot, an organ lesson, a week of rest in Palanga and many other valuable prizes.
By trying your luck in this lottery, you are also donating to a good cause because all the money collected will be used to supplement the special 450th-anniversary scholarship fund established by VU for future students from socially vulnerable families. Every year, these scholarships help approximately one hundred talented future first-year students from a sensitive economic and social environment at Vilnius University to settle in a new city during their first year of study. Annually, VU allocates about 300 thousand euros for scholarships. One student's scholarship amounts to 3,000 euros per year.
However, VU notes that the need for these scholarships is increasing every year. Last year, over a hundred first-year students who entered VU received this scholarship. However, there were three times more applicants.
Olympiad winners, those who have lost their parents or the first in their family who want to pursue higher education, from small towns, large families with an income of only 160 euros per person – these are just a few examples of applications for special scholarships that VU examines every year.
If you want to increase the opportunities of these young people, choose a support category (category I – 4.45 EUR, category II – 44.50 EUR, and category III – 445 EUR), a prize you want to win from that category, press the "Support" button, write in a comment the desired prize number – and you are already in the game!
You can contribute to this scholarship without participating in the lottery – you can allocate the chosen amount of support without specifying the prize number.
