The scientist received this proposal after publication of the article “Architectural Engineering as a Profession: a Report on Research Leading to a Curriculum Revision” in the "Journal of Civil Engineering and Management". The article was written in 2013, together with Andrej Jodko, PhD of the Department of Architecture Engineering, on the basis of his doctoral dissertation. In the article, based on the model of the competencies, established by the authors, the architectural engineering is analysed as a profession.
"The developed competency model of an architectural engineering specialist is the description of full activities as well as the required knowledge and skills, used for creation of Bachelor's and Master's study programs, combining two interdisciplinary courses. We are the first in the Baltic States with such a study program, it is also a rare one in Western universities, so the invitation of the global publishers may be consider as an evaluation of the global community of scientists," - said Mr Parasonis. Architectural engineering studies are organized in more than sixty universities in the world, but the specialists with knowledge of architecture and construction design are prepared only in four U.S. and two South Korean universities, also in VGTU.
Mr Parasonis added that the proposal is significant not only for the University, its academic community, but also for the students of this study program: the evaluation by the members of the global scientific community proves that VGTU study programs meet the quality requirements not only in Lithuania, but also abroad.
