Eleven foreign languages were offered to study in the Language Club this year: Arabic, Edo, English, Estonian, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish. In addition, the Club received over 130 VILNIUS TECH students' applications.
For Alessandra Loru teaching her mother tongue (Italian) to peer students was both exciting and challenging. She said: "I decided to join the Language Club and become a teacher because I wanted to share my knowledge and love for my culture and country with other global students". According to her, the most effortless lessons were those in which students were engaged and attentive.
Teacher Max Kux, who taught German, said that the Language Club students were most interested in lessons about culture, study, and work opportunities in Germany. The students talked with each other, shared real-life situations, watched movies, listened to music, discussed cultural differences, and cooked traditional food.
The closing of the Autumn Semester Language Club took place on the 13th of December. Participants and organisers discussed teachers' and students' experiences, challenges, and ways to improve.
The Language Club will reopen in March 2022 and offer new opportunities for VILNIUS TECH students to teach and learn foreign languages and enrich their international experience.
