The news was announced along with the best companies of 2020.
According to MRU Rector Prof. Inga Žalėnienė, despite the fact that the year was full of challenges, the award is an evaluation of the university academic community.
"First, I would like to thank all the university staff, who despite the complex situation regarding the pandemic were able to adapt to the changing conditions and to seek the goals set out thus achieving truly great results in the areas of studies, research and projects. Business representatives and the University - with contemporary management, technology and personnel competencies - can become leaders and one of the most advanced communities in Lithuania. This is a huge recognition by employers because this past year had many challenges. The University will continue to strengthen cooperation with business representatives," said MRU Rector Prof. Žalėnienė.
This year admissions results at MRU were one of the best during the last several years. According to LAMA BPO data regarding admissions for studies, MRU made the greatest percentage leap among all state universities in Lithuania - compared to 2019 figures for those invited to study in Bachelor's Degree programmes in state-financed places which grew by 271%. According to those who signed agreements for 1st cycle studies in higher education institutions, MRU was also among the leaders. There was a growth of 189% in those who had signed studies agreements in state-financed places compared to 2019 and the general number of admitted students for studies to Bachelor's Degree programmes were up 50%.
The number of students admitted to MRU Master's Degree studies programmes also grew. Compared to 2019, the number of submitted applications grew more than 30% and those invited to study grew by 13%. This year the University further improved its position in the area of Law in the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020," where universities globally are ranked according to specific studies and research areas. In the 2020 rankings, the Mykolas Romeris University Law School rose higher by 50 position compared to 2019. It was the first time in the history of Lithuania's higher education institutions that in the area of Law, MRU was among 250 of the best universities globally.
There was also growth in MRU's revenues from implemented research projects and agreements in the area of social sciences. Compared to 2018, this revenue grew almost 3 times, and in 2017 - almost 10 times. The result is the biggest jump among all the large state universities in Lithuania.
Today the Vilnius CCIC unites 500 members from various Lithuanian companies and businesses along with universities, colleges and other institutions of education. Members of the chamber participate in the competition, organised by the Chamber for the last two decades. When evaluating participants, company indicators, public activities of the leaders as well as achievements of the business or organisation are taken into account. Vilnius, Ukmergė and Alytus region business companies and educational institutions can participate in the competition.
