At the meeting students expressed their expectations and discussed the opportunities to raise grants as a motivational means. Apprenticeships and internships providing good experience were also talked about, as well as study funding, renovation of hostels and Youth Guarantees.
"The youth's voice is very important to us. Your initiatives and remarks seeking for suitable solutions are very desirable and always welcome," the prime minister said.
Talking about study programmes the prime minister and representatives of students agreed that at the moment more engineers, technologists, biotechnologists and information technologists should be prepared. Members of the union said that the state should apply motivational measures to attract students to needed programmes.
Butkevicius and students' representatives agreed that similar meetings should be held regularly.
