The European Universities are transnational alliances of higher education institutions from across the EU that come together for the benefit of students, teachers and society. They are searching for more dynamic models of cooperation, develop closer links between studies and research and innovation, enable institutions to experiment with new forms of studies and address other issues relevant for society at large.
A consortium of seven European universities from Germany, France, Greece, Slovenia, Portugal, Italy and Lithuania will create a platform for studies and research. Social partners from every partner country will also be active members of this project. In Lithuania the partners are the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology, the Sunrise Valley Science & Technology Park, Go Vilnius – the official development agency of the City of Vilnius, the Lithuanian Innovation Centre and others.
ATHENA is a three-year project with a focus on the development of new content of studies that matches current social and technical needs of the society in the area of electronics and informatics. Partners of the project will work on integrated modular study programmes that cover student and teaching staff mobility among the partners of the network. It is expected that the project will increase the international competitiveness of the network’s institutions and their students; will bring new solutions for the implementation of study programmes; will foster tighter cooperation with business; and will stimulate the creation of joint research groups and development of new research topics.
