First place among state universities goes to Vilnius University and first place among private universities – to ISM Management and Economics University, informed BC communications manager and development coordinator at EHU Jurga Mečinskienė.
In addition to the overall rankings, Reitingai breaks each university's rating down into seven dimensions. This year, EHU is ranked Lithuania's top private university in terms of research and faculty achievement, and its low student-faculty ratio.
The article notes that EHU stands out in terms of its internationally-recognized faculty, high-quality research output, and the number of faculty members holding PhDs, among other indicators.
"The rankings demonstrate the hard-won progress made by EHU – a Belarusian university-in-exile that did not exist in Lithuania until it was reestablished here under difficult circumstances a mere eight years ago," says EHU Vice-Rector for Development and Communications Darius Udrys.
EHU was founded in Minsk in 1992, but was shut down by Belarusian authorities in 2004. It subsequently relocated to Vilnius and was registered as a Lithuanian higher education institution in 2006. It serves mostly Belarusian students.
This is the second year that EHU is participating in Lithuania's national university rankings.
