In 2014, 12 thousand of students participated in the competition.
"The record number of the competition's participants is the best evidence that the young generation is concerned about the fate of the language and the state. Future Lithuania will depend on this generation," said the President.
According to Grybauskaite, while we were reading and writing in Lithuanian language – the language was alive. Therefore, it was symbolic that the winners of the competition were awarded on the International Children's Book Day.
The President wished the students to seek for the knowledge and to be an example to others, to love and always be proud to speak, write and think in Lithuanian language.
