During the Masterclass the lectures from active scientists give insight in topics and methods of basic research at the fundaments of matter and forces, enabling the students to perform measurements on real data from particle physics experiments themselves. At the end of each day, like in an international research collaboration, the participants join in a video conference for discussion and combination of their results.
Particle physics is a science of the smallest and most basic blocks of material – it reveals how exotic, wonderful and full of secrets our world is. After a few introductory lectures and work with CERN, the participants will gain knowledge about the essential relationships between elementary particles and forces.
The “International Masterclass: hands-on particle physics 2019” provides the opportunity for secondary school, high school students and the university freshers to become scientists for one day, to get acquainted with the wonderful world of quarks and leptons, to communicate with scientists working in this field, to solve the tasks provided by CERN, and to compare the results with those of their colleagues.
The International Masterclass event will take place on Friday, April 5, from 10 am till 6 pm.
