The data announced by the Council last week indicates that almost 34% households in Lithuania have fibre-optic internet, which is a lot more than in Sweden that comes second with its 26.5%.
Other countries in the top five are Latvia, Norway and Russia.
Lithuania takes the seventh place in the world rating. The United Arab Emirates are in the lead (85% households) with South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan following, where the percentage of households with fibre-optic internet access ranges from 63 to 37%.
