Born in South Africa David Gluckman’s genealogy tree leads to Tauragė, town in West Lithuania, from where his mother emigrated at the beginning of the Second World War.
Gluckman has gained his international fame as an inventor of Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur. Baileys is the world’s most popular liqueur and the 9th in the world market for spirits. Annually 82 million bottles are being sold, and the total sold amount is 1.25 billion bottles. Gluckman is also the author of Aqua Libra.
“Gluckman visited the Lithuanian Embassy in Dublin in May, when the idea to come to Lithuania was born. In addition to being a top-notch professional, he is an exceptional, charismatic person. I think all Kaunas students and teachers would find the meeting and discussion very beneficial”, says Egidijus Meilūnas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland.
The famous marketing expert will be accompanied by Rytis Jankauskas, Lithuanian businessman from Ireland, who is actively involved in developing Lithuanian-Irish relations, organising various events introducing Lithuania, participating in business missions.
According to him, Gluckman’s lecture presents an exclusive opportunity to get acquainted with ideas, knowledge, and know-how of an internationally renowned marketing expert: “David Gluckman has 40 years of experience. Currently he is traveling around the world and reading lectures at various universities, sharing his good practice and failure stories. This autumn he spoke at an international conference in Australia. David’s lectures cover a variety of topics, from branding to market entry”.
460 students have registered to the lecture “Why the simple ideas are often the hardest and the best”. Half of them are students from KTU and other universities, and the other half – representatives of business organisations.
“This demonstrates that KTU, which invited David Gluckman and is organising his open lecture, gave a unique opportunity to gain experience from one of the best marketing experts in the world, not only for the students, but also for marketing professionals”, says Andrius Milinavičius, the Board of the Lithuanian Marketing Association (LIMA).
After the lecture a discussion, moderated by Andrius Milinavičius will take place.
