"I am happy that we managed to implement a very important project of the national electronic mail service. The e-delivery system allows the state's institutions and natural and legal entities to sent and receive the electronic documents which are of the same legal value as those sent using the registered post's shipments. Due to the implemented projects, the state's institutions will be able to save money and to more efficiently communicate with one another," said Lithuania's Minister of Transport and Communications Rimantas Sinkevicius.
In development since October 2011, the new LTL 7.4m (EUR 2.14m) e-delivery system has been funded 85% by the European Regional Development Fund, with the Lithuanian government providing the rest of the funds.
The system is owned and managed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, with Lithuania Post as project partner.
