The previous building of the Mechanical Engineering and Design Faculty (Kęstučio Street 27) will become an interactive art space. For the centennial of Lithuanian state more than 20 art objects were created, which will invite you to the journey through the last 100 years of our State’s history. The interactive exhibition will allow to find out less known historical facts, to explore various periods in Lithuanian history, and to experience the stories of people who lived then.
The Act of Reinstating Independence of Lithuania or Act of February 16 was signed by the Council of Lithuania on February 16, 1918, proclaiming the restoration of an independent State of Lithuania, governed by democratic principles, with Vilnius as its capital. The Act was signed by all twenty representatives of the Council, which was chaired by Jonas Basanavičius (the exhibition of his books is still on in the KTU Central Library). The original Act, written in Lithuanian, has been found in German archives just in the last year. At the moment, it is being showcased in Vilnius, at the House of Signatories.
In 2018, Lithuania together with two other Baltic States – Estonia and Latvia – is celebrating centennial of their states. Series of events across the Baltics will invite all the citizens and visitors to enjoy the best what our countries can offer.
