The Conference is organized by Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) in conjunction with the Seimas, the Justice Ministry and the Lithuanian Bar Association.
Seimas Chairman Prof. Viktoras Pranckietis, Justice Minister Dr. Milda Vainiūtė, Lithuanian Bar Association Chairman Prof. Dr. Ignas Vėgėlė and MRU Law Faculty Dean Prof. Lyra Jakulevičienė are set to deliver opening remarks.
The international conference has become a tradition to mark Constitution Day, celebrated on Oct. 25th.
Each year Constitutional Law experts, academics, politicians, judges, lawyers and prosecutors take part in the conference.
Today, as the world fights terrorism and organized crime, it's very important to maintain the rights and freedoms of citizens enshrined in Constitutions of democratic countries, noted Justice Minister Milda Vainiūtė.
At the conference this year there will be many well-known constitutional law specialists from Georgia, Italy, Latvia, Moldova, Poland and Lithuania.
Lithuania's Constitutional Court Chairman Prof. Dainius Žalimas will present a paper as well as former members of this Court: Prof. Juozas Žilys, Prof. Vytautas Sinkevičius, Prof. Augustinas Normantas, EU Court of Justice Judge Prof. Egidijus Jarašiūnas and other legal experts from abroad as well as Lithuania.
