Bicycles can be carried by buses and trolleybuses marked with special signs, which mean that inside there are special places for bicycles. In total, there are 150 buses and trolleybuses for travelling cyclists.
“Flat-tyre, unexpected rain or very steep mountain on the road are among the situations when a cyclist might consider of jumping into a public transport. I am glad that Kauno Autobusai has joined the bicycle revolution. Let’s hope that passengers and cyclists will be mutually friendly and understanding”, says Povilas Mačiulis, Vice-Mayor of Kaunas.
KTU is supporting bike-friendly initiatives of Kaunas – safe and roofed bicycle racks next to KTU campus buildings, locked-up bicycle storage facilities at the University dormitories, as well as increasingly cycle-friendly environment of the main campus are just a fraction of the University’s initiatives. In the future (KTU Campus Vision 2036), the main KTU campus is becoming a traffic-restricted zone especially friendly to cyclists and pedestrians.
