Results of the first phase of application processing should be announced on April 28. The second phase will include five cities, with the final decision on what city will become the European Youth Capital 2020 to be announced in November.
According to information available to the Klaipeda municipality, another seven cities are competing for the title this year.
Lithuania's second-largest city Kaunas aims to become the European Youth Capital 2021. The two cities have also joined the race to become the European Capital of Culture in 2022.
