The visitors of the exhibition will have a chance to find out how space-based technologies are adapted in our everyday life and used in services like aviation, environmental protection, agriculture, fisheries, roads, maps and other areas. The European space programmes, research results, European Space Policy and its contribution to the space innovations will be also presented. One of the exhibition stands will be devoted to the Lithuanian achievements in space. The exhibition visitors will learn more about the first Lithuanian satellites.

"The space industry is a growing and important component of the global economy, the value added of which is among the greatest in the world. The state and the private sector are aware of the benefits of the space sector and are investing in research and new space technologies and services. Lithuania has a sufficiently strong potential in information technology, microelectronics and optoelectronics, mechatronics, lasers, biotechnology, and other fields of science. Lithuania may not only use but also develop high value added services and space technology," said Marius Skarupskas, Vice-Minister of Economy.

Particular attention will be given to the Lithuanian students. Some registered classes will be able to attend special tours, led by Lithuanian space satellite "Lituanica SAT-1" developers Vytenis Buzas and Laurynas Mačiulis.

The exhibition presents a model of the European space programme Galileo (an independent European global navigation satellite system), Copernicus programme (European Earth observation programme - the global monitoring for environment and security) and EGNOS (European geostationary navigation overlay service). These programmes are expected to help open new market opportunities, contribute to economic growth and job creation.

European Space Expo' is one of the EU Council Presidency events organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania and the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology. The exhibition is visual and interactive, all the presentations are given in the Lithuanian language and the admission is free of charge.
