The decision of the Government will not only ensure the continuation of the activities of regional schools, but also increase pupil's basket. Using the funds of pupil's basket, pupils are expected to be provided with a more effective psychological aid.

"The Government approved the new regulations related school network formation and providing possibilities for preserving the network of regional schools; the government also approved changes in the methodology of pupil's basket. It shows that the Government took on certain financial obligations to solving this problem in the 2014 budget," said Minister of Education and Science Dainius Pavalkis after the Cabinet sitting.

According to Pavalkis, next year approximately LTL 20 million (EUR 5.8 million) will be allocated to preserving of small schools.
