The Estonian arm of Skype Technologies earned a profit of 3.2 mln euros in the financial year 2015/2016, compared with a loss of 2 mln euros sustained in the financial year 2014/2015.
The average number of employees was 311, smaller by 47 than in the financial year 2014/2015. Skype Technologies OU said that in the past four years several of the support activities of Skype Group were linked up to the central support units of Microsoft, which resulted in a reduction in the number of employees.
The number of employees connected with software development remained unchanged. The company is planning no significant changes in employee numbers in the financial year 2016/2017, it added.
Wage costs inclusive of taxes totaled 21.7 mln euros in the past financial year, declining by 5.2%.
The Estonian arm of Skype Technologies is planning to pay 4.5 mln euros in dividend for the financial year 2016/2017.
Skype Technologies OU is 100% owned by the Luxembourg based Skype Technologies S.a.r.l. In October 2011, Microsoft acquired all shares in its parent company Skype Global S.a.r.l. At present Skype conducts business as a unit of Microsoft.
