According to KTU Rector Petras Baršauskas, innovation development and collaboration with business are the most important strategic priorities of modern universities. KTU, which is efficiently implementing European research programmes' funding and is collaborating with major businesses nationally and internationally, is famous for its achievements in ultrasound, organic chemistry, mechatronics, system diagnostics, environmental engineering and other fields of science.
KTU has signed more than 400 agreements with business this year.
According to Kęstutis Šetkus, only 14 research institutions out of 26 used the MITA instrument, which supports business R&D, and only 5 of them are being extremely successful in research and business partnership. He encourages the universities to get ready to the more active collaboration in international programmes, and to fund their projects in such a way.
According to Šetkus, biotechnologies, Internet of Things, lasers, nanotechnologies and renewable energy are the fields with the most unused potential in Lithuania.
