The KTU Day at the science festival will start on Friday, 9 September. The lectures and workshops at KTU Santaka Valley and in various faculties will cover a wide array of topics: from modern finance management to chemical research with marine materials. The visitors of the festival will be able to find out about the free methods for data visualisation, will have a chance to create new organic compounds at the chemistry labs of the University, and will measure their voice level in decibels.
Magic behind geometry will be revealed – its lovers will have to make a film from two sheets of paper and to cut chocolate without leaving extra parts, and the most popular apps for exploring celestial bodies will be introduced. Mathematical models for crime prevention and the massage technology for stimulation of blod circulation in hands and feet, which is very effective in alleviating of diabetes symptoms will be introduced.
For those loving the great outdoors, Spaceship Earth invites to enjoy science in open air at the 7th Forth of the Kaunas Fortress. KTU team, among others, will have some fun workshops and experiments on show.
National Science Festival Spaceship Earth is an annual event, which started in 2004 in Vilnius and Kaunas. Now the Festival is the most important and the biggest popular science event held in numerous Lithuanian cities and across various sites.
More than 30 000 participants visit all main universities, laboratories of the biggest technological companies and museums annually to participate in more than 300 diverse hands-on activities (lectures, demonstrations, excursions, exhibitions). Children of all ages, schoolchildren and families are taking part at the open air events (science fairs) in Vilnius and Kaunas. Each year the Festival is welcoming guests speakers from abroad – famous researchers from UK, Poland, Italy and other countries.
