VU is ranked in the group of 481-490 in the QS World University Rankings 2016–2017, up from 501–550 last year.
Three more Lithuanian universities are listed in the rankings, including Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Vytautas Magnus University and the Kaunas University of Technology. All of them are below the top 700 and are not given more specific ranking positions.
More than 900 universities were ranked based on six key performance indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
The ranking is topped by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Harvard University, the University of Cambridge and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
