The minister said cultural cooperation among the Baltic countries keeps intensifying. In addition to the traditional joint cultural events such as the Baltica folklore festival and the Gaudeamus students' song and dance festival the three countries are taking part in the Venice Biennale with a joint pavilion.
In 2018, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be the Market Focus countries at the London Book Fair.
"In addition we have made plans in the program of cultural cooperation between Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for 2018 for joint celebration of our jubilee," Saar said, referring to the centenary of the independence of Estonia in 2018 and similar anniversaries to be marked in the other two countries.
Established in Kaunas in 1919, the National Library of Lithuania was relocated to Vilnius in 1963. In 1988 the library was named after Martynas Mazvydas, author of the first Lithuanian language book published in 1547.
