Almost 31 thousand high school graduates have registered in entrance to the universities system, whereas more than 24 thousand of them have already filled out their selections. Students will compete for 15 thousand free of charge spots at the higher education institutions in Lithuania.

Some people who are trying to get to universities have already tried studying and are changing their degree scheme. Also, there is an increase in a number of those who already have a professional education but want to increase their competence.

The most popular area of studying is, as usually, social sciences - 43.5 %. Technology sciences are selected by only 12 % of all future students. The most popular areas are medicine together with law, economics, finance, management, psychology, and political science.

Almost 20.8 % of all the entrants want to study medicine. This is an unprecedented event although last year it reached 18 %. The spots available are limited, thus, this year selection process will be highly selective.

The first selection process results will be announced on 27th of July.
