The resolution to create a consortium of universities was signed by four Lithuanian universities - Vilnius University, Lithuanian Sports University, Vilnius Art Academy, and Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy.
The creation of a consortium would result in the creation of joint programs that would allow students to take classes in all four universities. Also, it would allow for joint research projects as well as the participation in the European Union structural funding programs. The universities are also aiming to increase the quality of studies and possibilities for integrated creative and scientific activities.
In the upcoming six months, universities will sign the cooperation contract and will announce the name of the consortium. Other strategic coordination and joint activity plans will be prepared as well.
This joint venture is a result of the decreasing numbers of students, increased international competition in the student market, and the need to attract more funding for various big scale projects.
