‘United States of America is the greatest guarantor and defender of democracy in the world. Democracy is the government of the majority while respecting the rights of minorities. Lithuania is failing when speaking about the defense of minority rights; the country does not respect what is concluded in the legislation and international conventions. The authorities' actions are directed against our children and lead to the liquidation of national minority schools. We cannot agree with this! We are forced to ask for political support of this large state today,’ said the statement of the organizers - Strike Committees of the Polish Schools in Lithuania, Committees of the Defence of Schools, Forum of the Parents of Polish Schools in Lithuania.

Participants of the rally will protest against the reform destroying the education system of national minorities in Lithuania, elimination of national minority schools, unified examination of the state language and realigning the curriculum of Lithuanian language teaching as of the first grade. People will also call for accrediting all secondary schools of national minorities.

The protest rally in defense of national minorities' education and against discrimination in the return of the land in the Vilnius region will be held on 16th June at 13.00 next to the US Embassy in Vilnius (Akmenų Street 6).
