The theme of this year's Europe Day is United in Diversity - which is also the EU's motto - to celebate our continent's diversity.
Starting at 10.00 CET, visitors who showed up for the open day on 8 May could participate in many activities, including quizzes, conferences, games and live music shows. In addition there was a debate in the plenary chamber where people could interact with MEPs and ask their views on different topics.
On 28 May there will be another opportunity to visit the Parliament, this time in Brussels where the EU institutions will hold an open day. The Parliament will host a series of events, including games, quizzes, debates with MEPs and a screening of the French film Welcome. This drama directed by Philippe Lioret was awarded Parliament’s Lux Film Prize in 2009.
