The reverse of the gold coin features a stylized laser beam as a symbol of laser physics, while the obverse features a stylised Vytis with the light interference in the background.

5000 coins were minted at the UAB Lithuanian Mint and they will be available for the acquisition at the cash offices of the Bank of Lithuania from their date of issue.
This is the third coin in the series of "Lithuanian science". First was released in 2012 and it was dedicated to the achievements of Lithuanian cardiac surgery, while the second coin was dedicated for Baltic linguistics and was issued in 2014.
