David J. Teece is a globally recognised author of hundreds of research publications and monographies. He is the founder of strategic management concept dynamic capabilities, and is the most often quoted scholar in this field.
"This award is a recognition for the years of my scholarly activity. It means not only great honour, but also responsibility. Becoming Honorary Doctor of KTU encourages me to reciprocate to Kaunas", said Teece in his inauguration speech.
The 45th Honorary Doctor of KTU joked that this award made him one of the University's alumni. He is hoping that this award will lead to some international recognition of the KTU's work in strategic management.
Upon his visit to KTU Teece gave public lectures for scholars and business representatives. KTU's Vice-Rector for Research Asta Pundzienė emphasised the practical nature of Teece's research and publications.
"During those meetings David not only shared his network contacts in strategic management, edited scientific publications, counselled KTU's School of Economics and Business, but also gave his insights on technology transfer and its benefits to both society and business", said Pundzienė.
She also expressed hope that in the future the collaboration between KTU and the famous American business intellectual will strengthen and develop.
David J. Teece is the Thomas W. Tusher Professor in Global Business at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business. He is also the director of the Center for Global Strategy and Governance and faculty director of the school's Institute for Business Innovation. He has authored over 30 books and 200 scholarly papers, and has been cited more than 92,000 times, per Google Scholar. He is co-editor of the Palgrave Encyclopedia of Strategic Management. Dr. Teece has received five honorary doctorates and has been recognized by Royal Honors.
