The Republic of Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world according to the population (over 250 million) and is one of the MINT countries. With this country's AMI, VGTU has a successful experience in the organisation of teachers and students' mobility, implementing the Erasmus Mundus programme projects. VGTU is continuing cooperation, implementing Erasmus + international mobility project 2015-2016.
The economy of this distant country is rising rapidly, the number of population with higher income is increasing and the demand for higher education is growing. The number of students leaving their country in order to study abroad is growing by twenty per cent per year (In 2013, nearly forty-thousand young people left Indonesia to study abroad). The Government of the country by the year 2020 has envisaged the development and accessibility of higher education, collaborating closely with Australia and the United States as well as seeking to expand the cooperation with the European States in the field of higher education in order to increase mobility. They hope that this Agreement will encourage the Indonesian students to choose their studies at VGTU.
