On the initiative of the Department of Engineering Graphics, Japan and Lithuania, using information technologies, have built a direct "bridge". Thanks to this ''bridge'', VGTU Architecture faculty students listened to a lecture of Professor Hirotaka Suzuki (Kobe University, Japan), assisted by Arvydas Rimkus, the lecturer at the Engineering Graphics Department.
During the lecture, Mr H. Suzuki was talking about the classification of surfaces, and demonstrated how to use the "origami" technique in order to achieve complex geometric surfaces and by using basic enlightenment laws, to create luminaire lampshades of exceptional qualities. During the workshop, students were practically making paper lampshades, and were able to watch the light playing inside, both with electric bulbs lit inside the lampshades, as well as under the direct sunshine.
''This is not the last ''direct bridge'' - in January, we are also planning a presentation from a classroom of Distance Learning Centre for Japanese students. The professors of our university will share their knowledge with the students of Kobe University, ''– said Assoc. Professor Daiva Makutėnienė, the Head of the Department of Engineering Graphics.
She explained that the implementation of the events comply with the goals of the Cooperation Agreement, signed between the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences of VGTU and two faculties of Kobe University in 2014.
''The fact, that in 2015 Kobe University and VGTU became partners, is of utmost importance - we will be able to visit Kobe University under Erasmus+ program'', - emphasized the fact D. Makutėnienė.
